1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to personal data or information we collect about you in the following cases:

  • when you subscribe to our newsletters;
  • when you subscribe to device notifications;
  • when you submit your publication for placement on our resource;

  • when applying for a job;
  • in the process of placing online advertisements and other marketing activities.

Unless otherwise stated, How2Cryptos Publishing Limited (“How2Cryptos”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is the controller of the personal data we collect and process. For information on how to contact our data protection officer, see section 9 below.

Where indicated, we may engage third parties to process data on our behalf. These third parties are data processors and act only on our instructions, without the right to disclose the data they receive to anyone else. We remain the controller of this data.

By continuing to use our sites, you consent to the collection, storage and use of your personal data as described below.

2. What data we collect about you

The term “personal data” or “personal information” means any information that can identify an individual. This does not include non-identifiable data (ie anonymous data).

We may collect, use, store and transfer different types of personal data about you in the following cases:

Sites operated by third parties to which we may link are not subject to this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of third-party sites.

Website functionality. We strive to provide useful features for our users, some of which require the collection and storage of information about your online preferences or behavior. If you are not logged in, this information is stored in your browser’s cookie files. If you are logged in, we store some of this information on our servers for synchronization between the different devices on which you are logged in.

Children’s data. Our sites are not intended for persons under the age of 18. Some content may not be suitable for persons under this age.

Special data. We do not collect special categories of personal data (for example, information about race, religion, political opinion). If you voluntarily provide such information through the interactive features of the site, we assume your consent to its use for the relevant purposes. You can withdraw your consent by contacting us.

If you do not provide personal data that we are required to collect by law or by contract, we may not be able to provide you with the relevant services or perform the contract. In this case, we will notify you.

3. How we use your personal data

We will only use your personal data when permitted by law.

Below is a description of all the ways we plan to use your personal data, including when you sign up for a How2Cryptos account or service, and what legal basis we rely on in each case. We have also indicated our legitimate interests where relevant.

Please note that we may process your personal data on several legal grounds, depending on the specific purpose of its use. Please contact us if you require details of the specific legal basis we use to process your data where more than one basis is specified.

Purposes of data processing

Analytics and Weblogs

When you visit our sites and use our services, we use analytics tools to collect, store and analyze standard web data, such as the web page you requested, the web page from which you went to How2Cryptos (if available), your public IP address your computer’s address, name, browser version, screen size, browser language, device operating system and any stored cookies.

To diagnose errors, understand usage patterns, and identify abuse, our analytics tools generate a unique browser identifier in the form of a persistent cookie. This allows us to distinguish unique users and link historical data from your previous and subsequent visits to the site.

Our log data is collected and processed in a way that does not identify you personally. We do not attempt to link this data to any information you provide through feedback, subscription or registration forms on How2Cryptos (except as required by account registration or with your consent).

We use our own analytics tool, Google Analytics and Hotjar to store and process IP addresses to prevent abuse. IP addresses are anonymized during processing by Google Analytics and Hotjar.

Log data is stored for about 30 days, Google Analytics does not allow us access to individual records. Hotjar stores data for 365 days. Aggregated anonymous data is stored indefinitely in our analytics tools.

You can opt-out of data collection by Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by Hotjar on the Hotjar opt-out page.

We store data about your most frequently and recently visited pages to create the “My Most Popular” menu.

If you subscribe to email alerts for How2Cryptos announcements

If we provide ad aggregation services:

  • We request and store your email address and classifieds search terms to send you the notifications you request and to provide access to your How2Cryptos Classifieds account (which is separate from your regular How2Cryptos account) to manage your email notifications.
  • We may also email you to inform you about security, maintenance or changes to the functionality of your How2Cryptos Classifieds account. Our email notifications may contain information about other How2Cryptos services. We use our own tools to send such notifications.
  • When you open an email or click on embedded links, we may collect statistics using standard technologies, such as clear gifs, to monitor and improve our notifications. You may voluntarily provide a password for identification when logging into your How2Cryptos Classifieds account through our website.
  • We may retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the service you have ordered. After unsubscribing from all notifications, we keep such data for about 30 days (if you have provided a password, we keep it for up to six months). Please note that we will unsubscribe you from all notifications if there has been no activity (for example, you have not clicked on a link or logged in to your account) for six months.

If you have signed up for a How2Cryptos Classifieds account

If we provide ad aggregation services:

We request and store your email address (if not previously provided) and password to identify you when you sign in to your How2Cryptos Classifieds account (separate from your regular How2Cryptos account) to manage notifications.
We may store this data as described in the previous paragraph.

  • Necessary for our legitimate interests (to administer the account and provide relevant information)
  • Consent (for sending email notifications)

When you contact us via social media

If you send us a private or direct message via a social network, a copy of that message may be emailed to us as a regular email (without your name or email address, unless the social network stores this information).

We may retain contact records to analyze issues and maintain relationships with repeat users.

When you send us an email

We use your email address, name (if provided), and other data to respond to your request.

We may retain such contact records to analyze issues and maintain user relations. We use TLS technology to encrypt email. If your mail does not support TLS, please be aware that your mail may not be secure in transit.
We may also scan emails for viruses or malware.

When you call or write to us

We may retain correspondence sent by post and records of telephone calls to maintain our relationship with users.

When you apply for a job

Applying for a job at How2Cryptos is part of a potential contract between you and the company.

We collect and process personal data to contact you, evaluate your qualifications, cover letter, conduct interviews and collect references. Your data will be stored for the period of consideration of the application.

If you are successful in the selection process, we will request additional information, which will be communicated at a later date. If your application is rejected, we will keep it for up to three years to be able to consider you in the future or to comply with legal requirements.

Online advertising

We may display personalized advertisements on the pages of our site. This helps us provide free services. Our partners may collect data about your activity to personalize advertising content, measure its effectiveness and analyze interaction with advertisements.

  • AppNexus, PubMatic, Oath, Criteo, Amazon and others.

Other marketing

You may receive direct marketing communications from us if you have consented or previously purchased such services and have not opted out of such mailings.
We never share your data with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.

Changing the purpose of use

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which it was collected, unless there is reason to believe that the data should be used for another purpose that is compatible with the original one. If you would like an explanation of the compatibility of the processing for the new purpose with the original one, please contact us.

If we need to use your personal data for an incompatible purpose, we will notify you and explain the legal basis on which we will rely.

Please note that we may process your personal data without your knowledge or consent if required or permitted by law.

4. Disclosure of your personal data

We may share your personal data with the third parties listed below for the purposes described in section 3. We require all such third parties to keep your personal data secure and process it in accordance with the law.

Internal third parties

  • Members of our group of companies who provide us with certain operational and administrative services and are located in the UK or the EU.

External third parties

Our payment service provider, which is currently Stripe. Please note that:

  • We use this service for payment processing, analytics and other business services.
  • How2Cryptos shares certain data collected about you with our vendor. How2Cryptos is the controller of this data and the provider processes it on our terms.
  • The Provider may collect additional personal data about you, including through cookies and similar technologies, and is the controller of such data. This data may include transactional data and information about devices connecting to its services. The provider uses this data to improve its services, including fraud detection, loss prevention, authentication and analytics.
  • The provider is responsible for collecting and processing your payment details (such as card details and billing addresses) to which How2Cryptos does not have access.
  • The Provider may have its own sub-processors, service providers and affiliates.

Other organizations with whom we work and who receive or process personal data on our behalf under contract include:

  • Google, Inc. (analytical services), located in the USA. How Google uses data collected on our side is described here: How Google uses information from sites or applications that use our services.
  • Hotjar Ltd. (analytical services), located in Malta. How Hotjar uses data collected on our end is described here: About Hotjar.
  • Google DFP (advertising services), located in the USA, is the joint data controller.
  • MailChimp (email service provider) located in the USA.
  • OneSignal (provider of on-device messaging) located in the United States.
  • Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (cloud services), which provide technical infrastructure components and process personal data within the EEA.
  • Any other third parties who may provide us with products, content or services for the How2Cryptos to which you subscribe.
  • If we provide ad aggregation services, any third parties that provide such services will act as data processors.
  • Independent contractors and virtual assistants who support our recruiting efforts.
  • Our professional advisers (including accountants, lawyers and insurers) are based in the UK.
  • Regulatory bodies and other authorities in the EU that may require reporting on data processing in certain cases.

Other cases of disclosure

In addition to disclosures necessary for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, we may share your personal information if we believe it is necessary to:

  • to comply with laws, regulations or government requests;
  • to protect our contractual rights;
  • to detect and prevent fraud, security issues or technical issues;
  • to protect the rights, property or safety of How2Cryptos, our employees, partners or users.

If we are involved in an agreement to sell a company or assets, we may transfer your personal information to the relevant third party, subject to confidentiality until it is transferred and subject to a new privacy policy.

5. International transmissions

Some of the disclosures described above may involve the transfer of data outside the United Kingdom (UK) or the European Economic Area (EEA).

When we transfer your personal data from the UK or the EEA, we aim to ensure a similar level of protection for that data by implementing at least one of the following measures:

  • transferring data to a supplier located in the US, if that supplier complies with the relevant data privacy framework, such as an agreement between the UK (or, if applicable, the EU) and the US, designed to protect data transferred between these regions;
  • the transfer of your personal data to a country, organization or sector that at the time of transfer is recognized as providing an adequate level of personal data protection by the Government of the UK or (if necessary) by the European Commission;
  • the use of specific forms of contracts approved by the UK government or (where appropriate) the European Commission, which provide personal data with the same level of protection as in the UK or (where appropriate) the EU.

6. Data security

We have implemented appropriate security measures (including user authentication software and secure data exchange channels) to prevent the accidental loss, unauthorized use or access, alteration or disclosure of your personal data.

In addition, we limit access to your personal data to only those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know that information. They will process your personal data only on our instructions and are required to maintain confidentiality.

We have procedures in place to respond to any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and the relevant regulator of the breach if we are required to do so by law.

7. Data storage

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including meeting any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

In certain cases, you can ask us to delete your personal data; please see section 8 for more information.

In some cases, we may anonymize your personal data (so that it is no longer associated with you) for research or statistical purposes, in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice.

8. Your legal rights

You may have the following rights (which, in certain circumstances, may be subject to exceptions under data protection law):

  • Right to Information – You have the right to know how your personal information will be used. This Privacy Policy and other policies and statements used on our sites and in our communications are intended to provide you with a clear and transparent description of how your personal information may be used.
  • Right to withdraw consent – If we rely on your consent to use your personal information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. This includes the right to ask us to stop using your personal information for direct marketing purposes or to unsubscribe from our email list at any time. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place prior to the withdrawal of your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain content or services. We will notify you at the time of withdrawing your consent.
  • Right of access – you can write to us to ask for confirmation of what data we hold about you and to request a copy of that information. We may ask you to verify your identity and provide evidence that you are entitled to the requested information.
  • Right to rectification – If our records of your personal information are inaccurate, you have the right to request that those records be updated. We may check the accuracy of new data you provide to us.
  • Right to erasure – you may request that your personal information be deleted from our records where (1) there is no valid reason for further processing of such data, (2) you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), (3) we may have processed your information unlawfully or (4) we are required to delete your personal data in accordance with local law. However, please note that we may not always be able to comply with your deletion request for certain legal reasons, which we will notify you of as necessary at the time of your request.
  • Right to restriction of processing – you may have the right to request the restriction of processing of your personal data if (1) you want us to confirm the accuracy of such data; (2) our use of the data is unlawful but you do not want us to delete it; (3) you need us to retain the data, even if we no longer need it, because you need to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or (4) you have objected to our use of your data, but we need to check whether we have an overriding legal basis for using it.
  • Right to data portability – if we process your personal information (1) with your consent, (2) because such processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party or to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, or (3) by automated means, you may request that it be provided to you — or to another service provider — in a machine-readable format.
  • The right to object to processing – you may have the right to object to processing of your personal data if we rely on a legitimate interest (or the interests of a third party) and there is something in your particular situation that leads you to object to processing for that reason , because you believe it affects your fundamental rights and freedoms. You also have the right to object if we process your personal information for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, we may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds for processing your information that override your rights and freedoms.
  • The right not to be subject to automated decision-making if it would significantly affect you. At the moment, we do not engage in such actions, so this right will not be relevant in the context of using our sites.
  • To exercise these rights, please send a description of the personal information in question using the contact details provided in section 9 below. If we believe that the information you have provided does not identify the requested personal data, we reserve the right to request (1) proof of identity and/or (2) additional information.

You do not need to pay to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unreasonable, repetitive or excessive. Otherwise, we may refuse your request in such cases.

We try to respond to all reasonable inquiries within one month. Sometimes it can take more than one month if your request is particularly complex or if you have submitted multiple requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you informed.
